Ingredients

  • tomatoes, quartered or cherry tomatoes whole
  • 1/8 tsp alum
  • 3/4 cup canning salt
  • 2 sprigs dill
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 3 quarts water

Instructions

  1. Pack tomatoes into hot sterile jars.
  2. Add 1/8 teaspoon alum, 1 clove garlic, and 2 sprigs dill to each quart jar.
  3. Combine vinegar, 3/4 cup canning salt, and water; bring to a boil.
  4. Fill jars with the hot liquid and seal.
  5. Optional: Add one jalapeno pepper to each jar if desired.
