Donna'S Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 3 lb. apples (McIntosh), peeled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar or to taste
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°.
  2. Mix sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt together.
  3. Squeeze in lemon.
  4. Mix in with apples.
  5. Spread a little flour on bottom of pie plate and on top of bottom pie crust.
  6. Pour in half of apple mixture.
  7. Top with 1/4 stick butter.
  8. Add remaining apple mixture.
  9. Top with 1/4 stick butter.
  10. Place top pie crust on; finger-crimp edges around pan.
  11. Beat whole egg and brush over top crust.
  12. Bake at 450° for 20 minutes.
  13. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.
  14. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
  15. Cool and eat.
