Ingredients

  • 6 to 7 pieces cubed steak
  • flour
  • approximately 3 cups water
  • 1 medium onion

Instructions

  1. Dredge cubed steak in flour.
  2. Fry the coated steak pieces in a small amount of oil in a pressure pot, frying 2 or 3 pieces at a time until browned.
  3. Once all meat has been browned, return all the steak to the pressure pot.
  4. Sprinkle about 5 tablespoons of flour over the meat.
  5. Pour enough water into the pot to cover the meat.
  6. Add the sliced medium onion, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Lock the pressure lid on the pot and cook at 10 pounds of pressure for about 30 minutes after the control jiggles.

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a few garlic cloves during cooking. If you don't have cubed steak, you can substitute with pork chops or chicken thighs. To thicken the gravy, whisk in a bit more flour or cornstarch mixed with water before serving. Remember to adjust seasoning to taste, especially with the addition of any new ingredients.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this country-style steak with creamy mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the delicious gravy. A side of steamed green beans or a fresh salad complements the dish nicely. For a heartier meal, consider pairing it with **Carrot Relish Or Copper Pennies** for a tangy contrast to the savory steak.

Storage & Reheating

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the steak and gravy in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally until heated through. Alternatively, you can microwave it in a covered dish, checking every minute to avoid overcooking.
