Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 pound loaf day-old bread
  • 3/4 cup powdered milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup melted margarine

Instructions

  1. Blend together water and powdered milk.
  2. Add eggs to the mixture and beat well.
  3. Mix salt, vanilla, and sugar together.
  4. Combine the dry mixture with the liquid mixture and blend well.
  5. Add raisins and melted margarine to the mixture.
  6. Tear the bread into pieces and lightly moisten with the liquid mixture, mixing gently.
  7. Pour into a well-greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F until light brown, about 40 minutes.
  9. Test by inserting a toothpick into the center; if it comes out clean, the pudding is done.
  10. Serve topped with Bread Pudding Sauce.
