- Mix together the dumpling ingredients: 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a small bowl.
- Stir well until the batter is smooth.
- Toward the end of cooking the stew, drop spoonfuls of the batter on top of the boiling stew.
- Cover tightly and cook for about 12 minutes.
- Turn the dumplings over and cook for a few more minutes until cooked through.
- Let simmer if desired, and reduce the stew to a slow cook from this point.
