Easy Basic White Sauce

Ingredients

  • 60 grams Unsalted butter
  • 60 grams Flour
  • 1000 ml Milk
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 dash Nutmeg
  • 200 ml Heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Consomme stock granules

Instructions

  1. Slowly melt the butter in the frying pan over a low heat.
  2. Add the sifted flour and fry, making sure it doesn't burn.
  3. Stop the heat.
  4. Add the warmed milk in two batches, mixing quickly with a whisk after each addition.
  5. Add the bay leaf and nutmeg, and simmer for about 5 minutes over a low heat.
  6. Add the heavy cream and consomme, season with salt, and it's done.
