- Bake the yellow cake according to the package directions in a 9 x 13-inch greased and floured pan.
- Remove the cake from the pan and allow it to cool completely.
- Wash the pan and place the cooled cake back into it.
- Spread the two cans of pie filling evenly over the cooled cake.
- Spread Cool Whip over the fruit filling.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Serve the shortcake cold.
