Easy Unstuffed Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1/2 lb. ground pork
  • salt pork, cut into bit pieces and fried
  • 1 bag instant cooked rice, cooled
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Remove 5 or 6 leaves of the cabbage for the top.
  2. Chop the rest of the cabbage into small pieces, cutting the hard core out. In bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan, put enough water to cover it. Place the chopped cabbage on top of the water and spread it evenly.
  3. Mix the beef, pork, rice, salt and pepper and spread over the chopped cabbage leaves.
  4. Then place the reserved cabbage leaves on top.
  5. Pour the fried salt pork over the top leaves. Spread the can of tomato soup over entire pan.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 2 hours or more at 350°.
