Ingredients

  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. cold water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vinegar

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Combine cold water, egg, and vinegar, then add to the flour mixture.
  4. Stir with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened.
  5. Shape dough into a ball and chill.
  6. Divide dough into 2 equal portions.
  7. Roll each portion to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  8. Use for making a 2-crust deep dish pie or for 2 single crust, deep dish pie shells.
