Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 unbeaten eggs
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, shortening, and boiling water; add cold water, salt, and eggs.
  2. In a small bowl, mix yeast, warm water, and 1 teaspoon sugar.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the first mixture; add flour and mix well.
  4. Cover with a wet cloth and refrigerate; let rise until doubled in size.
  5. Take out the dough and shape into rolls.
  6. Brush the rolls with melted butter.
  7. Let the rolls rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes until golden.
