Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp cocoa
  • 2 c sugar
  • dash salt
  • 2/3 c milk
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 c chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Mix cocoa, sugar, salt, milk, and butter in a saucepan.
  2. Cook and stir over low heat until sugar dissolves and mixture boils.
  3. Reduce heat and let it simmer.
  4. Cover and cook for three minutes.
  5. Uncover and boil, without stirring, until candy reaches soft ball stage (234°F).
  6. Remove from heat.
  7. Add vanilla extract.
  8. Cool to lukewarm while beating until mixture begins to thicken and lose gloss.
  9. Stir in chopped nuts.
  10. Pour into a buttered 8 x 8-inch pan and let it set.
