Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 (5 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and powdered sugar; cut in 1/2 cup butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Press mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch square pan lined with heavy-duty foil.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  4. Combine sugar, cocoa, and salt in a bowl.
  5. Add 2 tablespoons of melted butter and beaten eggs; beat for 2 minutes.
  6. Add evaporated milk and vanilla; mix well.
  7. Stir in pecans.
  8. Pour mixture over the baked crust.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes. Cool before cutting into squares.
