Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 c. milk, scalded
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. shortening (butter flavor Crisco)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Mix yeast and warm water and set aside.
  2. Combine milk, sugar, shortening, and salt.
  3. Cool the mixture to lukewarm.
  4. Add 1 1/2 cups of flour and beat well.
  5. Beat in the yeast mixture and egg.
  6. Add the remaining flour gradually.
  7. Put the dough in a greased bowl, turning to cover it.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 5 days.
