Fingerpaint is a fun, colorful, edible craft ideal for children and creative projects. Made from simple ingredients like cornstarch and food coloring, it offers a smooth, washable texture that allows kids to explore colors and textures safely while encouraging sensory development and artistic expression.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • powder or liquid tempera or food coloring

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly dissolve the cornstarch in cold water.
  2. Stir constantly while cooking over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil, loses whiteness, and starts to thicken.
  3. Lower the heat and continue stirring for about 2 minutes until the mixture is very thick and smooth. Let cool slightly.
  4. Color the fingerpaint by stirring in powdered or liquid tempera or food coloring.
  5. Store any leftovers in a covered jar in the refrigerator.
