Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a bowl.
  2. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add buttermilk and mix just until the dough is moistened.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Pat the dough onto an ungreased 12-inch pizza pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes or until golden.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes before cutting into pieces.
