Ingredients

  • 1 (1 lb. 1 oz.) can pitted dark sweet cherries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Drain cherries, reserving the syrup.
  2. In a dish, combine sugar and cornstarch.
  3. Mix the sugar and cornstarch well.
  4. Add cherry syrup to the mixture and stir until combined.
  5. Place the dish on the stove and cook, stirring, until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
  6. Add the drained cherries to the mixture.
  7. Turn off the heat.
  8. Pour brandy over the cherries and ignite to flambé.
  9. Serve hot over vanilla ice cream.
