Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 stick oleo (1/2 c.)
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. cold water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and sugar in a mixing bowl.
  2. Combine oleo, shortening, cocoa, and cold water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Pour the boiling mixture into the flour-sugar mixture and mix well.
  4. Add remaining ingredients: eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and soda, then mix thoroughly.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 10 x 15-inch cookie sheet with 1-inch sides.
  6. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes.
