Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, consider substituting half of the milk with heavy cream. If you prefer a sweeter custard, adjust the sugar to taste. When broiling the marshmallows, keep a close eye on them to avoid burning. This dish can also be made using fresh peaches during the summer season for added flavor. Serve with a side of vanilla ice cream for a delightful contrast.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Floating Peaches chilled for a refreshing dessert. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or serve alongside a dollop of whipped cream for added richness. This dish pairs beautifully with a slice of Cherry Rum Cake(From 1975 Edition) for a delightful end to your meal. Consider pairing with a light fruit salad for a balanced dessert experience.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm in the microwave for 20-30 seconds, or until just heated through. Be careful not to overheat, as this can affect the texture of the custard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh peaches instead of canned?

Yes, fresh peaches can be used for a more vibrant flavor. Simply blanch and peel them before using, and adjust the syrup quantity as needed to maintain the right consistency in the dish.

Is there a way to make this recipe gluten-free?

This recipe is naturally gluten-free since it uses cornstarch instead of flour. Just ensure that all other ingredients, like the canned peaches and marshmallows, are gluten-free certified to avoid any issues.

Can I prepare this ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can make the custard and store it in the refrigerator for up to a day in advance. Just add the peach halves and broil the marshmallows just before serving for the best texture and flavor.
