Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 3 to 4 cups self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar together.
  2. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  3. Alternate adding flour and yeast water to the creamed mixture until dough is stiff.
  4. Let the dough rise about 2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Transfer dough to a floured board.
  6. Knead for 3 minutes.
  7. Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
  8. Cut with a biscuit cutter.
  9. Put a small amount of margarine on each roll and fold over.
  10. Let the rolls rise for 1 hour.
  11. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
