- Add cucumbers, onions, peppers, garlic and cloves in a large bowl.
- Add salt; cover with cracked ice, then mix thoroughly and let stand for 3 hours.
- Drain completely; place ingredients in large cooking pot.
- Combine remaining ingredients; pour over cucumber mix.
- Heat to boiling and seal in sterilized hot jars or cool mixture and store in refrigerator.
- Add vinegar and sugar, if needed to cover pickles before heating.
