Fried Muskrat

Ingredients

  • 1 muskrat, dressed
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 c. ketchup

Instructions

  1. Cut the muskrat into serving size pieces and soak in salted water overnight.
  2. Place the meat in a pot, add 1 quart of water, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion.
  3. Cook about 1 hour.
  4. Brown meat in vegetable oil.
  5. Pour ketchup seasoned with 1 teaspoon garlic powder over the meat.
  6. Add some water and simmer about 30 minutes.
