Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 4 cups walnuts
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix the buttermilk and sugar in a saucepan and cook slowly until the mixture reaches soft ball stage (approximately 15 minutes).
  2. Remove from heat and add the vanilla, then stir.
  3. Add the walnuts and stir until they are evenly coated.
  4. Spread the coated walnuts onto waxed paper and let cool.
  5. Break apart with a fork and store in a tin.
