Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 inches stick cinnamon, broken
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 4 teaspoons loose tea or 4 tea bags
  • 4 cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 3/4 cup water with sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
  2. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Strain the mixture to remove spices.
  4. Pour the strained spiced water over 4 teaspoons of loose tea or 4 tea bags in 4 cups of boiling water.
  5. Steep for the desired strength, then serve hot or chilled.
