Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. milk, scalded
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. heavy cream, whipped
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix cornstarch and sugar thoroughly.
  2. Stir in hot milk and cook in double boiler top, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  3. Beat egg yolks separately.
  4. Gradually stir the hot mixture into the egg yolks, stirring constantly.
  5. Cook over simmering water, stirring occasionally until the mixture coats a spoon.
  6. Chill the mixture.
  7. Fold into beaten egg whites with salt until stiff.
  8. Fold in whipped cream and vanilla.
  9. Pour into a refrigerator tray and freeze until firm.
