German Peach Pudding

Instructions
- Cream together butter and 2/3 cup sugar.
- Beat in egg thoroughly.
- Sift together the flour and baking powder, then add in alternately with the milk to the egg and butter mixture.
- Beat until smooth.
- Pour into 1 1/2-quart casserole or 8-inch baking pan.
- Pour over the batter 4 cups chopped peaches that have been sweetened with 1 cup sugar.
- Bake in a moderate 350° oven for 40 minutes or until done.
- Serve with or without cream or hard sauce. Can use any kind of fruit instead of peaches (pineapple, cherries, pears, etc.).
