- Cream sugar and shortening in a mixing bowl.
- Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and add to the mixture.
- Add salt and flour to the mixture.
- Mix well until combined.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise until about double in size, approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
- Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes.
- Let the dough rise again until doubled in size, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
- Divide the dough into small balls about the size of a walnut.
- Place 3 balls in each cup of a greased cupcake pan.
- Let the rolls rise until about double in size.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) until golden brown.
