Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 1.5 pounds ground meat
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 12 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 box lasagna noodles
  • 1.5 cups grated mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 12-inch casserole dish.
  2. Saute chopped onions and bell peppers until tender.
  3. Add ground meat and sugar; cook until meat is browned and cooked through.
  4. Drain excess fat and return meat mixture to skillet.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Layer meat mixture and uncooked lasagna noodles into the casserole, beginning and ending with the meat mixture.
  7. Top with grated mozzarella cheese.
  8. Cover and let stand for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes until bubbly and golden.
