Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 4 cups wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup dry milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons applesauce

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in 2 cups of water at 110°F and set aside.
  2. Mix wheat flour, sugar, dry milk, and salt using a dough hook.
  3. Add applesauce and the yeast mixture to the flour mixture.
  4. Incorporate 2 cups of flour into the mixture.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and place in a warm oven for 15 to 30 minutes to rise.
  6. Knead the dough for 5 to 10 minutes and then form into loaves.
  7. Place the loaves in lightly greased pans, cover with plastic wrap.
  8. Let rise in a warm oven for 15 to 20 minutes, ensuring the dough does not rise above the pan's top.
  9. Preheat oven to 325°F and bake the bread for 25 to 30 minutes.
