Ingredients

  • 1/2 peck Concord grapes
  • 2 oranges (juice and grated rind)
  • 2 lemons (juice and grated rind)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the fruit; remove grapes from stems.
  2. Remove skins from pulp.
  3. Cook pulp until soft; strain to remove seeds.
  4. Place the skins and strained pulp into a preserving kettle.
  5. Extract the juice from oranges and lemons; add juices and rind to the grape mixture and cook about 1 hour.
  6. Measure the sugar and grape mixture to equal amounts.
  7. Add nuts and salt.
  8. Continue to cook until thick.
  9. Pour into sterilized jars.
  10. Cool and pour melted wax on top.
