Ingredients

  • 2 lb. fresh green beans
  • 1/2 c. bacon drippings
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt or to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean and snap the green beans.
  2. Put bacon drippings in a large pot; add the green beans and about 2 cups of water.
  3. Cook at medium temperature.
  4. Add water as needed during cooking.
  5. Just before the green beans are done, add the salt and sugar.
  6. Serve with fresh onions and cornbread.
