Gringo Cabbage

- Chop cabbage coarsely into large pan; add 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cover with boiling water; boil for 7 minutes and drain.
- Place half of cabbage in shallow baking dish.
- Make white sauce with butter, flour, salt, pepper and milk.
- Pour half of sauce over cabbage.
- Sprinkle with half the cheese and half the bread crumbs. Layer with the remaining cabbage, cheese and crumbs.
- Pour remaining white sauce over top.
- I sprinkle can of Durkee onions over the top of casserole.
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
