Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup syrup
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon flavoring

Instructions

  1. Heat the syrup, sugar, and hot water together until the mixture reaches 250°F.
  2. Add coloring at 250°F.
  3. Continue cooking the mixture until it reaches 300°F.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in flavoring after boiling to 300°F.
  5. Pour the hot mixture onto a buttered cookie sheet.
  6. Let it cool slightly, then slice into strips and quickly cut with scissors into small pieces.
  7. Place the small pieces in powdered sugar as you cut them.
