Ingredients

  • 6 apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 frozen crusts
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • dash of nutmeg
  • dash of salt
  • 1/4 cup red cinnamon candies

Instructions

  1. Pare apples and slice thin in a large bowl.
  2. Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; mix with apples.
  3. Scatter red cinnamon candies over the apple mixture; dot with butter.
  4. Place top pastry over the filling; prick holes in the crust to vent.
  5. Bake at 400°F for 35 minutes.
  6. Reduce oven temperature to 300°F and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with ice cream or a wedge of Cheddar cheese.
