- Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.
- Sift flour into a large bowl.
- Add salt, water, and dissolved yeast to the flour.
- Stir until the mixture is thoroughly combined.
- If the dough seems too thick, add more water gradually.
- Turn out the dough onto a floured board and knead, adding more flour if necessary.
- When the dough becomes rubbery and doesn't stick to hands and the board too easily, place it back into the bowl and brush with oil.

- Work the dough down and let it rise again.
- The dough is now ready to be shaped into rolls, bread, or cinnamon rolls.
- Makes about 4 large loaves.
