Ingredients

  • 4 lb white or whole wheat flour
  • 6 cups warm water
  • 2 packages quick yeast
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.
  2. Sift flour into a large bowl.
  3. Add salt, water, and dissolved yeast to the flour.
  4. Stir until the mixture is thoroughly combined.
  5. If the dough seems too thick, add more water gradually.
  6. Turn out the dough onto a floured board and knead, adding more flour if necessary.
  7. When the dough becomes rubbery and doesn't stick to hands and the board too easily, place it back into the bowl and brush with oil.
  8. Let the dough rise until it doubles in size.
  9. Work the dough down and let it rise again.
  10. The dough is now ready to be shaped into rolls, bread, or cinnamon rolls.
