Ingredients

  • 1/2 potato dough
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons rum flavoring
  • 1 cup apricot preserves
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Roll each part of dough into a rectangle, 15 x 6 inches, on a lightly floured board.
  2. Spread each rectangle with half the butter.
  3. Place the rectangles on greased baking sheets.
  4. At 1-inch intervals along the long sides of each rectangle, make 2-inch cuts with scissors.
  5. Spread apricot preserves over the rectangles, avoiding the cuts.
  6. Sprinkle sliced almonds and raisins over the preserves.
  7. Fold the uncut center portion over the filling to form a braid.
  8. Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with additional almonds if desired.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Drizzle with a mixture of rum flavoring and powdered sugar if desired before serving.
