Ingredients

  • 12 cups flour
  • 4 cups lukewarm water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cake household yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, place the flour.
  2. Make a hole in the center of the flour.
  3. Add lukewarm water, sugar, Crisco, egg, yeast, and salt into the hole.
  4. Gradually mix all ingredients together, adding more flour if needed, until it forms a large ball.
  5. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise until doubled in size.
  6. Divide the dough and form into buns, placing them in long baking pans.
  7. Cover the buns with a cloth and let rise again.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the buns for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
