- Slice the baked angel food cake crosswise into three layers and separate.
- Prepare the vanilla pudding using 2 1/2 cups of milk according to package instructions.
- Stir 2 cups of Cool Whip into the prepared pudding.
- Spread half of the pudding mixture on the bottom cake layer.
- Top with one-third of the drained pineapple tidbits and halved maraschino cherries.
- Repeat with the second cake layer: spread with pudding mixture, then add fruit toppings.
- Place the third cake layer on top of the assembled layers.
- Frost the entire cake with the remaining Cool Whip.
- Garnish the top with extra pineapple and cherries if desired.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
