A spicy, tangy hot pepper dip with bold flavors from bell peppers, hot peppers, garlic, and tomatoes, perfect for parties and gatherings needing a flavorful appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 12 bell peppers
  • 6 hot peppers
  • 2 bulbs garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups vinegar
  • 7 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 32 ounces catsup
  • 5 large onions
  • 4 quarts chopped tomatoes
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 (6 ounces) Louisiana hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Chop bell peppers, hot peppers, onions, garlic, and tomatoes and put in a large boiler.
  2. Add vinegar, sugar, and salt.
  3. Bring to a boil on medium heat and cook until the mixture tastes done, about 1 hour.
  4. Stir often as the mixture tends to settle to the bottom.
  5. Pour 1/2 pint of water and cornstarch into a small container and shake well.
  6. Add this mixture to the boiling mixture gradually, stirring until the mixture is thickened.
  7. Add hot sauce and catsup.
  8. Boil for about 30 minutes more, stirring often.
  9. Process in pint jars for 20 minutes.
