Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 tsp. melted Crisco
  • 4 c. plain flour

Instructions

  1. Use 1/2 cup warm water to dissolve the yeast.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the remaining warm water, sugar, salt, and melted Crisco.
  3. Mix well and knead in enough flour until the dough is smooth like biscuit dough.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with Crisco. Let it rise until it has doubled in size.
  5. Grease the top of the dough with Crisco.
  6. Once the dough has doubled, shape it into rolls.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased pan and allow them to rise again.
  8. Bake in a moderate oven until they are golden brown.
