A delightful Hungarian coffeecake featuring sweet dough layered with cinnamon, walnuts, and sugar, baked until golden and tender, perfect for breakfast or dessert gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Sweet Dough recipe
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. After the second rising, cut the dough into pieces the size of walnuts and form into balls.
  2. Roll each ball into melted butter, then in the mixture of sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts.
  3. Place one layer of balls so they barely touch in a well-greased tube pan.
  4. Sprinkle with a few raisins.
  5. Add another layer of balls, sprinkle with more raisins, pressing them in slightly.
  6. Let the assembled cake rise for 45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35 to 40 minutes.
  8. Invert the pan so the butter-sugar mixture runs down over the cake.
  9. Serve by breaking apart with two forks.
