Ingredients

  • 2 cups very warm water
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 5 to 5 1/2 cups bread flour
  • margarine, melted

Instructions

  1. Combine water, yeast, and sugar; let stand for 10 minutes.
  2. Add salt, vegetable oil, and 5 cups of bread flour; knead, adding up to 1/2 cup more flour if needed.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a slightly warm oven until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough in half and shape into two loaves; place in greased loaf pans.
  6. Brush the loaves with melted margarine and bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes.
  7. Remove from pans immediately and let cool slightly before slicing.
