Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted enriched flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 packages (3 oz. each) cream cheese

Instructions

  1. Sift together the enriched flour and salt.
  2. Cream the butter and cream cheese thoroughly.
  3. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness.
  5. Cut into 3 x 1-inch strips.
  6. Make a deep groove lengthwise down the center of each cookie with the handle of a knife, keeping ends closed.
  7. Place 1/2 teaspoon of jam or jelly in each groove.
  8. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes until delicately browned.
  9. Serve warm or cold.
