Jazzy Yams combine tender boiled yams with bourbon, orange juice, brown sugar, and pecans for a flavorful, sweet, and slightly spicy side perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs. yams
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Boil scrubbed yams until tender, about 35 minutes.
  2. Drain and cool.
  3. Peel the yams.
  4. Mash the yams and add all remaining ingredients except pecans.
  5. Beat until smooth.
  6. Pour into a buttered 6-cup baking dish.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped pecans before serving.
