  • 5 tea bags berry zinger tea
  • 2 cups fructose or sweetener of choice
  • 1 tsp citric acid or juice from 2 or 3 lemons

Instructions

  1. Bring one quart of water and grated ginger to a boil.
  2. Boil until you can smell the ginger.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. In the same water, steep the peppermint tea bags and berry zinger tea bags for 20 minutes.
  5. Strain the mixture to remove tea bags and ginger.
  6. Add sweetener and citric acid or lemon juice to the strained tea.

Tips & Substitutions

For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or a splash of fresh lime juice. If you prefer a different flavor profile, feel free to substitute the berry zinger tea with hibiscus or raspberry tea. For a sweeter option, honey or agave syrup can replace fructose, but adjust the amount to taste. Experiment with fresh herbs like basil or mint for added freshness.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Kava'S Cooler over ice for a refreshing summer drink. It pairs nicely with light summer dishes like Cold Artichoke And Wild Rice Salad or can be enjoyed as a cool treat on its own. For a fun twist, serve it in cocktail glasses and garnish with fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for an extra touch.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. If freezing, pour the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze until solid. To serve, simply remove from the molds and let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes for easier release.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh ginger instead of grated ginger?

Yes, you can use fresh ginger. Just slice it thinly and use about a 1/2 inch piece instead of 3 tablespoons of grated ginger. This will give a slightly different flavor profile but will still be aromatic and delicious.

Is this recipe suitable for kids?

Absolutely! Kava'S Cooler is a caffeine-free beverage and can be enjoyed by kids. Just be cautious with the sweetener amount to ensure it’s not overly sweet for younger palates. Using fresh lemon juice also adds a nice tang that kids often love.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Yes, Kava'S Cooler can be made ahead of time. Prepare the tea and sweeten it as directed, then store it in the refrigerator. It tastes even better after the flavors have had time to meld together, making it perfect for gatherings or meal prep.
