Ingredients

  • cucumbers
  • dill
  • garlic
  • alum
  • 2 qt. water
  • 1 qt. vinegar
  • 3/4 c. pickling salt

Instructions

  1. Wash cucumbers and pack in jars, leaving 1-inch headspace.
  2. Add 1 head of dill, 1 button garlic, and a pinch of alum, the size of a pea, to each jar.
  3. Mix water, vinegar, and pickling salt; bring to a boil.
  4. Pour the hot brine over the cucumbers in the jars and seal.
