Ingredients

  • cake flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 4 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Sift some cake flour three times, then measure 3 cups of flour and sift it again with the baking powder. Sift the sugar.
  2. Cream the sugar with the butter until smooth and creamy.
  3. Measure out the milk. Add some of the flour to the sugar mixture and alternate with the milk until all have been added.
  4. Beat the egg whites until stiff, but not dry. Fold the egg whites into the cake batter.
  5. Pour the batter into three lightly greased and floured layer pans.
  6. Bake in a preheated 325°F oven for about 30 minutes or until done.
  7. Frost with 7 Minute Icing.
