Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 1 lb. baking potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Grate the onion and set aside.
  2. Peel the potatoes and grate them.
  3. Combine the grated onion and potatoes in a bowl; rinse and drain in a sieve; squeeze out excess liquid.
  4. Put the drained mixture in a bowl and stir in the egg, flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon pepper.
  5. Heat about 1/4 inch of oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Drop about 2 tablespoons of batter into the hot oil, forming several pancakes at a time.
  7. Cook until golden brown, about 4 to 5 minutes per side.
  8. Drain on paper towels before serving.
