Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Crisco
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Cream together Crisco and sugar.
  2. Add molasses and egg; beat together.
  3. Sift together soda, flour, ginger, and cinnamon.
  4. Stir the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture by hand.
  5. Refrigerate the dough for at least a couple of hours or overnight.
  6. Roll the chilled dough into 3/4-inch balls.
  7. Roll the balls in granulated sugar.
  8. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.
