Ingredients

  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 can evaporated milk (12 oz.)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 16 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Bring sugar, evaporated milk, and salt to a full boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat and stir constantly for 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Add butter, chocolate chips, and vanilla.
  4. Beat with electric mixer until it loses its gloss.
  5. Add nuts, if desired.
  6. Pour into a buttered 9 x 13-inch pan or dish.
