Ingredients

  • 4 tsp. flour
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cook flour and milk together until thick and then allow to cool, preferably while the cake is baking.
  2. Cream the sugar, shortening, and butter until well combined, then add the cooled flour mixture.
  3. Stir in vanilla and a pinch of salt.
  4. Beat the mixture until it becomes fluffy and reaches a consistency similar to whipped cream.
